Locum Orthopaedic Surgeon with a sub-specialist interest in Hip and Knee surgery

10PAs per week/ 1.00 WTE, 12 months FTC

We are very pleased to invite applications for a full time Locum Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon post at Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate may be expected to work across all of the Trust's main sites.

The successful candidate will join and complement the existing group of orthopaedic surgeons who have a wide range of interests in elective surgery and orthopaedic trauma.

Candidates should have a sub-specialist interest in Hip and Knee surgery. The successful candidate will become part of a team of 24 Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeons.The on-call commitment will be based on the Barnet Hospital site. The majority of the elective activity will be carried out at our newly opened Chase Farm Hospital. We hope that the individual will play an active role in developing the Hip and Knee services across the Trust.

The post seeks to maximise the use of both the theatre and outpatient resource and as such the job plan may include some flexible sessions. This is not uncommon within the specialty with a number of consultants already working flexible sessions.

All candidates must be fully registered with the General Medical Council and within 6 months of entering the Specialist Register on their start date. Please note that the post is not recognised for training.

This post is covered by the Terms and Conditions of Service for Hospital Medical and Dental Staff (England and Wales).

The salary for the post will be on the consultant salary scale. This appointment is subject to satisfactory pre-employment checks.
