Our trust has around 10,000 staff serving 1.6 million patients. It comprises Barnet Hospital, Chase Farm Hospital, the Royal Free Hospital and more than 30 services in the community. This larger scale organisation provides an unprecedented opportunity for us to continue our pioneering work, particularly in finding ways to deliver even better care to our patients.
Our mission is to deliver world class care and expertise in our clinical services, underpinned by world class teaching and research and we will continue to measure our progress against our five governing objectives: excellent outcomes, excellent patient and staff experience, excellent value for taxpayers’ money, being safe and meeting our external duties, and building a strong organisation.

We invite applications for one (1) locum consultant histopathologist posts, for a period of 6 months in the first instance.
The successful applicants will join a team of consultant cellular pathologists reporting histo- and cytopathology. The lead for cellular pathology is Dr Alan Bates, and the lead for cytopathology is Dr Miguel Perez-Machado.
The appointees will be expected to subspecialise in one or more areas, including, but not limited to, breast, lung, GI, skin, gynae and urological pathology, and to contribute to the relevant cancer MDT meetings as well as undertaking histopathological and/or cytological reporting and participating in the on-call service.
The department is expanding, and in the near future we expect to create an equivalent number of substantive posts, for which locum postholders will be able to apply.
These posts are based at the Royal Free Hospital, in Hampstead, one of the most attractive areas in London, within walking distance of Hampstead Heath.
You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
