Locum Consultant in Emergency Medicine
Barnet Hospital - Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust
6 months fixed term

Applications are invited for a 10 PA Locum Consultant post in Emergency Medicine at Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust. This post is for a period of 6 months with the potential of extension or becoming substantive.

Our Trust in North London provides a full range of acute hospital services including ED at Barnet Hospital and UCC at Chase Farm Hospital.

In December 2013 we opened a modern, rebuilt and extended department seeing 115,000 new patients pa, with 25% being paediatric. There is a new build Resus room, Paediatric ED, CT scanner in-house dedicated to emergency work, CDU and PAU.

This post provides an exciting opportunity to join our team of 10 ED Consultants (includes this post), 18 middle grade doctors and 19 junior doctors in training. We are looking for an enthusiastic colleague to work with us to build on the existing strengths of the departments.

Benefits of this post include: location (close to Greenbelt); affordable accommodation in nearby Hertfordshire; good local schools; a fair work life balance; excellent links with Royal Free and University College Hospital (we actively support training and have regular medical students in our departments); active academic links with Hertfordshire University (our academic output is excellent in London).

We have an excellent track record in teaching and academic output. The department is a highly established and reputed training centre for undergraduate medical students and EM higher trainees. Our teaching and training is strengthened by an academic and health science partnership with UCLPartners.

Whatever your professional aspirations, whether you are seeking a first post after completing training or are an established consultant seeking new challenges, we would like to hear from you. We will work with you to accommodate your interests and any sub-specialisations you wish to develop. We welcome, in particular but not exclusively, dual trained EM practitioners.
